So Edison Chan is this handsome Hong Kong actor, who is currently involved in a huge sex scandal. Not only did pictures of him having sex with many women leak out into the media, many of these women are HUGE HONG KONG STARLETTS. Like Cecilia Cheung (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecilia_Cheung), Gillian Chung of Twins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gillian_Chung), and Maggie friggin' Q!!!
So Maggie Q (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maggie_Q) is getting pretty big in America now, but she has been big in Hong Kong for awhile. Now why am I telling you all this? When I was reading the Chinese tabloids with my mom, I saw that Maggie Q was involved and freaked out since she's known in America. My mom was like, "Oh yeah, Maggie, she tipped me $20." Mom?! Are you kidding me? First Steve Tyler, then Norman Hsu, and now Maggie Q? I wonder if they spoke Cantonese to each other, I think I'll ask.
One good thing that came out of this sex scandal is that Edison proves that Asian men being small "down there" is just an ignorant stereotype. WARNING: a hung Chinese man. http://img4.bizhat.com/4032/dsc00051_1_1_.jpg Edison's huge! And I don't just mean he's a celebrity...
Check out this link. I remember reading that Obama was from Hawaii, but I didn't realize what that implies until now. Imagine the connection he has to the AAPI community being from Hawaii. And how much significance the PI in AAPI holds in Obama's background. I just thought I could semi-relate to him as a person of color (moreso than Hillary being a woman), but we're related more than just people of color, he has strong ties to and experience in the AAPI community. Hands down, man. But there's also Elaine Brown...

So I was watching Hong Kong news on TV last night with my mom. I can barely understand what the hell the anchor's saying, my Cantonese is barely conversational, nonetheless formal and informational. I just see a Chinese guy in an orange jumpsuit in a courtroom, and then it cuts to a white guy at a press conference standing in front of some government seal. I think, "Hmmm, this could be about Norman Hsu and his dirty donations to the Clinton campaign." Then I hear the name Norman Hsu and I'm confirmed.
I haven't even gotten to the best part yet. My mom's a waitress at a Chinese restaurant in the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. So she gets her celebrities from time to time. So we're watching this story and she says, "That guy has been my customer for years. He's really rich." Mom! He's rich cuz he's a gangster fugitive! How effing cool is that! I said to her, "I have to tell my friends!" aka APSA people who will appreciate who Norman Hsu is. And she says, "No! I don't want to go to jail!" Oh Chinese mothers, you gotta love 'em.
