Welcome to Bhakti Yoga Club !
The word bhakti can be traced to the verbal root bhaj, which means "to worship". In the second verse of his famed sutras on bhakti, Shandilya defines bhakti as "exclusive and intense loving attachment to the Lord". The very first book of the Bhagavatam defines bhakti as parama-dharma, or "the highest and most satisfying function of the soul". The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, which means "to link up with, to combine". Together, the word bhakti-yoga means "to link up with the Lord in loving relationship leading to the highest and most satisfying function of the soul". In Srimad Bhagavad-gita, Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that of all yogis - including hatha-yogis, gyana-yogis, dhyana-yogis, karma-yogis, and bhakti-yogis - the best is the bhakti-yogi.
The goal of Bhakti Yoga Club is to understand bhakti-yoga in great detail by systematically studying the Vedic literatures and to eventually apply the principles to our lives. In order to develop in-depth understanding of the subject, it is important to first listen to and query from the learned souls. Bhakti Yoga Club provides us with a lot of opportunities for lecture sessions, scientific presentations and mutual discussions.
The membership is FREE ! Please mail to bhakti-yoga-subscribe@yahoogroups.com in order to become a member.
