UCI area:
Here are some
special interest points that are relevant to the activities of the
Graduate Christian Fellowship at UCI. We provide this information with
the hope that it will be useful to students.
The Bluffs is
a favorite food/coffee/dining location for many of our members. It is
located
on Bison (just before the Mac Arthur Blvd intersection coming from
UCI). Panera
Bread offers free refills on coffee and free WiFi internet access if
you have a laptop with the WiFi card. Islands is a slightly more formal
restaurant - a great place for birthday celebrations. There is an
outdoor fireplace area between Daphne's and Baja Fresh.
Arroya Park
is across Bison street from the Bluffs and offers a secluded area to
hold
BBQs and other picnics.
The Mariners church is located
behind UCI. Head towards Culver drive on Campus and turn right on
Culver/Bonita Canyon road. You will see Mariners Church about a mile
into Bonita Canyon Road. If you hit Newport Coast drive, you've gone too
far.
The shopping complex at the intersection of Campus
and California is the closest to Verano Place,
home to most grad students at UCI. It includes an
Albertsons, Blockbuster Video, Starbucks Coffee, Gina's Pizza and other
restaurants. The members of the GCF at UCI are known to frequent Gina's
and Starbucks.
The University Center is another place that the GCFers frequent a lot and is
located across the street from UCI. You can walk to this complex from
the Admin building - just look for the pedestrian bridge that runs
across Campus Drive connecting UCI and University Center. We often hold
our weekly gatherings outside a tea place called Cha
for Tea that is located in this complex. There are several other
restaurants and fast food locations as well. Trader Joes is also
located in this complex.
The intersection of Michelson and Culver offers
several places to eat and shop. Some of these cater to the students
with more modest budget. Tacos and Co. offers UCI students a
half off price break on Tuesdays and Thursdays. (you need to buy a
drink, though) The Wholesome Choice market is located here as well.
