About Informatics

The newest major in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, Informatics is the study of the design, application, use and impacts of information technology. It goes beyond technical design, to focus on the use of information technology in the real world.

Research in the field of Informatics includes software engineering, computer-supported collaborative work, human-computer interaction, ubiquitous computing, security and privacy, information retrieval and management, programming languages, and computational-social relationships.
