Qualifications for Membership

Members are elected on the basis of scholastic and/or professional record.  Those eligible for election are as follows:

Undergraduate Students

· Are enrolled in any accredited college or university offering a BA or BS in chemistry or a closely related science

· Have achieved Junior status

· Have an overall GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)

· Have completed at least six semesters of chemistry with a  chemistry GPA of 3.0 or at least four semesters of chemistry with a chemistry GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale)

Graduate Students in Chemistry or an Allied Field

· Have completed successfully at least nine semester hours (or equivalent) of graduate study in chemistry or a related science

· Have a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and are not on probation

· Meet the eligibility requirements for undergraduate students listed above

Professional Applicants

· Have a Ph.D. in chemistry or an allied science

                                       OR

· Have a bachelor or masters in chemistry with a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or at least three years of employment in chemistry or and allied field

                                       OR

· Have a bachelors or masters in a related field with at least five years of employment in chemistry or related field

If you meet the qualifications for membership and are interested in becoming an Iota Sigma Pi member, please return the membership application (see bellow), with a transcript (students) or a CV (professionals), and one year’s membership dues ($15 for students, $35 for professionals).  There is also a one time initiation fee of $15, please add this to the dues amount.  Please make your checks payable to Iota Sigma Pi.  All application materials should be sent to:
