For instance, did you know that you could be saving 10% on your textbooks by being a GK member? Or that you could be saving $75 on test prep classes from Princeton review? Or saving money on your car insurance from Geico? Or that your resume could be posted to an exclusive job board by Vault that hundreds of large and small employers search for employees? If you didn't know these things, you're not taking advantage of your Golden Key membership!! We'll be holding an info session during our meeting on April 12th that will go over these and other benefits of GK membership! The meeting will be held on April 12th at 6:00 pm, so be sure to attend and learn about all the ways that GK can help you and save you money!! Since 1997 Humanities Out There (HOT) has helped students gain the tools they need to reach their American dreams. HOT draws together public school teachers, graduate students, and undergraduate tutors in a shared enterprise of bringing innovative scholarship in the form of age appropriate curricula that enhance the critical thinking and writing skills of Santa Ana students. As teachers and mentors, UCI students bring a university education to public school classrooms. In HOT workshops, undergraduate tutors play a key role in delivering college-level content to students in Santa Ana schools. For five weeks, a team of tutors visit a Santa Ana classroom once a week for one to two hours. Tutors work closely with a graduate student who has designed lessons for the workshop. No prior knowledge is necessary; you'll be provided with all the necessary training and information. There are a number of workshops and grade levels to choose from, including four workshops in History and three in Language and Literature. Please visit http://www.humanities.uci.edu/hot/workshops/workshops.htm for the tutoring schedule. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Chao Li, at chaol@uci.edu. Thank you and I hope you all decide to get involved. ~Jackie~ From jappleby at uci.edu Mon Apr 25 17:23:28 2005 From: jappleby at uci.edu (jappleby@uci.edu) Date: Mon Apr 25 16:22:03 2005 Subject: [Goldenkey-list] You're invited to a picnic in the park!
