Hello Fabulous TOT Member!
Having a good weekend? We hope so. Well, we really appreciate our fellow
members and we want to make this club the best it can be for everyone. So,
we decided that we would have a fundraiser! Hurray! This way TOT can
afford things for our club members, such as:
*Parties/Events (such as movie night/pizza night/coffee night)
*Food
*T-Shirts/bags
*Decorations
*Prizes
*And anything else on which **club members** decide to spend the money.
Okay, so have we got your attention? Are you curious about how we'll raise
these funds? Here is what we thought up:....A DANDY CANDY DRIVE!!! We'll
use current TOT funds to buy the candy in bulk, which is very cheap, and
we'll sell it at an individual price with the added bonus to our customers
that they are supporting a wonderful club on campus(*smile, wink*), plus
we'll get the chance to spread the word about TOT to our friends, family
and even strangers! Of course, you do not have to participate in this
event, but it is a great opportunity to work together as a team to
accomplish something that results in other, more obvious benefits ($). We
are your officers and we will be right there with you, selling candy to
the very hungry (due to the closing of the food court!!!) masses of UCI :)
This "DANDY CANDY DRIVE" is a new tradition for TOT, so we really need to
hear your input after you read this message (you can just reply to this
message). Will you be willing to sell candy with us? Specify if you want
to sell just a little or a whole bunch. We'll have a prize for the person
who sells the most candy!!! (Please be brutally honest because we need to
know how much to buy in the first place!)
Thanks again for your time and thought!
Yours Truly,
Lisa, Andrea, & Jessica

Hi Again!
Here are the answers to a couple quick questions pertaining to the candy
drive:
"What kind of candy will we sell?"
The more popular stuff like Snickers, KitKat, rolos, other chocolate bars
and maybe skittles or something like that (mostly whatever we can get
cheap).
"How do we sell the candy?"
This is really up to you. We'll give you the candy in some sort of bag or
something that will clearly show that you are selling the candy for TOT.
You can ask random people if you want, but you can probably get by fine by
asking the people with whom you have casual conversion throughout the day.
You can ask a TA to support the club or you can just ask family and close
friends. Don't be too persistent when it comes to people who seem really
busy. Let them know that you and other future teachers will benefit
personally from the sales, so it's a good cause :)
"What if we don't sell all the candy we say we will?"
If we give you twenty candy bars to sell and you only sell fifteen, that's
okay. Just return the other five bars. You can also come back and get more
candy if you run out.
"When do we get the candy?"
When we get enough responses we'll go ahead and buy the candy. We'll let
you know when that is. We can distribute it at our next meeting or you can
stop by the Careers in Teaching House in AV (where your President lives)
or somewhere else if you want to get a head start.
Let us know if you have anymore questions!

Dear Teachers of Tomorrow,
My name is Chris Chrition and I work in the UC Irvine Libraries,
Education and Outreach Department for an outreach program called SPIRIT
(School Partnerships in Research and Information Technology.) We host
study visits from 6-12 grade classrooms from Santa Ana and Compton
school districts. The program works with high school and junior high
teachers in a variety of subject matters to teach their students library
and information literacy skills that are essential for life long
learning and academic success at the college or university level.
To accomplish our mission of broadening our outreach efforts we hire
student workers to help out with the research sessions. These student
assistants act as role models interacting with both high school and
junior high teachers and library staff to answer questions, guide the
research process and share content specific expertise in classes as
varied as astronomy, chemistry, mathematics, dance and more. We have
employed members of your organization in previous years and hope we can
continue to provide opportunities for hands on interaction with teachers
and students. If you have any students in your organization that would
like to gain teaching experience and share their expertise with small
groups of students, please have them contact me via phone or email. I
hope to hear from you!

Hi Members!
Here's an opportunity for one of you to fill a teacher/aide
position! The family of a 3 year old autistic boy in Newport Coast (about
10-15 minute drive from UCI) is looking for another ABA
therapist to do 2-hour morning sessions with their son, starting ASAP. No
experience necessary, they will train. Ideal hours are M-F, starting
around 9 or 10 am, but that's also negotiable. The pay is negotiable
depending on experience, but the family is willing to pay $12-15. Minimal
hours and decent pay, perfect for a college student!! :) If anyone is
interested, they can email Kieu Nguyen at kieun@uci.edu or contact the
family directly at 949-290-7055 (ask for Nazie, the mom). Thanks so much
and the family hopes to hear from TOT members soon!

We would like you to take a minute and learn about some important
initiatives that will appear on the ballot this November 8, 2005. The

the initiatives because they are extremely important!!! Also, UCI student

students to Mesa and Pippin Commons for lunch. ·
Acting as role models and interacting with students, teachers,
